As you all know, Spencer, IA was extremely wet before RPRU. Due to the heavy rainfall Friday night into early Saturday morning, Spencer was split into a North and South portion. Many people were trapped either at their motel or the fairgrounds. The flooding became worse as the day progressed. Many areas were without electricity and sewer service. Cell phone service was spotty. Many homes, businesses, vehicles etc. have been lost. Thousands of acres of farm ground were under water. But as tragic as all of this was, the real tragedy was when we learned that there had been a death due to the flooding. We did not learn until Monday afternoon that the victim was one of our members, Bill Schulze of Elburn, Illinois. Bill was a long-time member and officer of IHC Chapter #2.
